Extreme By Design Documentary & Workshop

This past week I had the huge honor of attending the screening and then participating on a panel for the Extreme By Design documentary at Georgia Tech.   Here is another link to Stanford's d. School K12Lab with more information on EBD.  This was my second experience with Extreme By Design & documentarist Ralph King.  This past April, Mount Vernon's Upper School teacher TJ Edwards brought EBD & King to our 9th graders for an afternoon to challenge them to redesign the high school transcript.  In a word, WOW.  It was a wonderful experience to be part of and well, this second experience with EBD was also wonderful. Yes, I know design thinking does that to me....  everything is wonderful (even the messy, hard, and well at times dead end moments).  I am not a polished visual notetaker, a polished note taker, or a polished anything...  As I watched the Extreme by Design documentary (which is a must for people interested in design thinking), I jotted down notes, phrases, and connections I received by the story telling and DT demonstrations. To be honest, I think I was destined to be a doctor of some sort based on my poor handwriting (yet, a las God had other plans for me :)

It might not be helpful to try to decipher the chicken scratch on the paper, but for me... the most invaluable part of my notes is the capture of the following statement : "...not having the "intelligence" to make the prototype work"   I hope to write more about this statement in a future post... until then Thank you Ralph King for the opportunity to join in on your journey and become part of Extreme By Design's story.  Being on the panel with you and Scott Sanchez was a learning experience for sure and a treasure I relished.
